The need for having a 2nd skill

In today’s article, we’ll be talking about the importance of learning German language especially for us Indians. Its almost 11 months since we first started experiencing the social & economic symptoms of COVID-19 which has severely disrupted the routine life both personally & professionally for many. As there is no indication as to how long this disruption will last, many have steadily started rebuilding their professional outlook. For Students it has become essential not only to withstand overwhelming competition but also overcome it. Hence we re-emphasise on having mastered two skill sets and thus prepare ourselves. Your primary skill defines you but what if you could take it up a notch by adding a 2nd skill?

Learning a business foreign language today can help you unlock multiple avenues, if you know where & what to look for? That is exactly what we’re going to be talking about. Here is an excerpt from an article which talks about why should Indians learn a foreign language?

“When we learn a language, we just don’t gain the ability to read one more set of symbols or recognise one more set of meaningful sounds, we also gain access to a whole new world. A language is a passport to the world of accumulated knowledge of a community; a key to understand a different society; a lens to view the culture & history of a group of people”

Why German? - Student Outlook

Moving on to our specific choice of German. It is the 4th most spoken language in the world with more than 96 million native & 132 million total speakers, not to forget that Germany is the most successful & influential economy in Europe. These are compelling reasons for German to be one of the most demanded business languages in international business. If these are not convincing enough, so here are a few more reasons why should you learn German.

Germany has been the most sought after higher study destination for Indian students over the years & because of an Indo-German cooperation agreement meet held back in November 2019, we can only presume it will continue to be the same. In a statement remarked by Angela Merkel, the chancellor of Germany “After all 20000+ Indian students are currently studying in Germany & we would love to see more”, Germany is clearly welcoming Indian students and is willing to strengthen socio-economic ties with India. India has seen a rapid rise in number of multinationals based in major Indian cities & has now become one of the most important customer service hub for almost all businesses. With Germany being the best economy in EU, the ties between India-Germany strengthening & MNC’s willing to set up their operations in many Indian cities, the opportunities after learning German are multifold. You can still choose to be in India and with help of German knowledge, work for multinationals & earn well. You can read our guide on learning German in an Indian outlook here. Why Germany? - Migration Outlook

For all of you interested in migrating to Germany, on 31st March Germany updated its immigration policies which invites skilled & educated immigrants to come & work in Germany. The German government also has started a dedicated portal which essentially determines your eligibility to immigrate & advice further course of action to smoothen your immigration procedure. Germany has announced that it would look forward to focus on Indian/APAC geography more than China – read this article here. Indians can take the early advantage as ties between the 2 countries are strong & Germany also lacks youth population, which India has excess of. You can read our migration guide for Indians here.
