French Language Overview

French as like any other European language falls under the “CEFR” – Common European Framework of Reference for languages, which is an international standard, which describes a person’s grasp over a language. It describes a six-point scale reference starting with A1 up to C2 with increment in difficulty.

    About French Certification Exams

    The following exams certify your French language proficiency & are recognised globally are:

    • DELF / DALF
    • e-TEF

    The DELF / DALF exams are conducted by Alliance Française & offered by Ministry of Education, France.

    The DELF exam is aimed at candidates with beginner & intermediate proficiency, whereas DALF is aimed at students with advanced proficiency.

    DELF & DALF exams are official French language certification exams recognised & conducted globally.

    The certificates of DELF & DALF once earned do not expire.

    Students are expected to register (fees payable separately, directly to the institution) & enrol for an exam on the scheduled day.

    DELF / DALF

    DELF (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française) certification exam is aimed at students with beginner & intermediate level of language proficiency. Whereas DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) certification exam is aimed at students with advanced level of language proficiency.

    e-TEF (electronic Test d’Évaluation de Français) is an international certification exam with validity of 2 years.
